Tuesday afternoon/evening

After some free time we headed to the Kindergarten on the Phare campus. The headmistress showed us the walls we were going to paint. We were surprised to find out that there were actually three different areas to paint rather than one so we decided to focus on getting a head start on that and leave the garden project for later in the week. The last thing we wanted was for us to leave without finishing what we had started.

Luckily as part of our planning before leaving for the trip, we had all brainstormed and sketched out several ideas for the mural so we had plenty to fall back on for the extra two areas. We split into 3 groups and got working on painting the background colours. Two groups even managed to start adding in the shapes and outlines of the images they had designed. The teachers and head came round to inspect our work so far and were very impressed with what they saw. Half the group will continue to work on our murals tomorrow afternoon whilst the other half will be going on the bike ride.

This evening we were all very happy to eat delicious Japanese food at  HOC cafe in town. Some students even said they loved it so much they would return to Battambang just to eat there again! For anyone who is interested, I highly recommend it.
