The students (and teachers!) are definitely going to sleep well tonight, we had another action packed day with lots achieved.
We started the day with our circus skill training. Today we were focussing on preparing material for the pre-show tomorrow. We split in two groups, a juggling group and an acrobat group. We started off in the usual communal circus training room but later on we got to practice what we had done so far in the big top where we will be performing. All the students worked really hard to make sure the show will be as good as it can be tomorrow.
After lunch on campus, the girls went off on their bike tour (see yesterday's post for details on the tour). They were very proud to hear they finished the tour in the same time the boy's group did. I was very impressed with the thoughtful questions they asked the guides along the way. The tour really helped to put into perspective how hard these villagers work for their living. The highlight of the trip was probably getting to taste some of the produce along the way. As with the boys, they weren't too impressed with the smell at the Prohok factory, especially when they were feeding fish heads through the grinding machine to make fish food!
Meanwhile, the boys took on the gardening project, where they worked on two areas. They said it was hard work, maybe even harder than the bike ride the day before. They moved soil from one area near the kindergarten to the garden space, prepared large planning beds and filled boxes with soil and compost and planted Winter melon seeds in them. (Photos of the gardening project will be put on the blog tomorrow)
We were really touched that the principle and all the Kindergarten teachers were there in the afternoon to say thank you for all our hard work to make their Kindergarten a brighter and more colourful space. She said she would think of us every time she looked at the paintings! She very kindly gave us a beautiful bunch of flowers and a big bag of candy for the students.
We all enjoyed a well earned dinner at a lovely pizza place by the river this evening.
